Rick's Tips

We choose to sell only Stockli skis here at Ski Sharp because I feel they offer the highest level of performance, the best quality construction, and the best durability of any brand of skis on the market today.
Our customers are some of the best skiers in Vermont, therefore it is very important to me to be able to offer them the finest ski equipment available. I have the opportunity to ski on and work with all the top ski brands, including many of the "not for sale" race room, hand built models. The Stockli skis are noticeably better than all the others.
My son Travis has been a ski racer since he was a little boy, and I have always searched for the fastest skis for him to race on. We both ski on Stocklis, and he's still winning races.

Why Marker?

I have only sold one brand of ski binding ever here at Ski Sharp, and that is the binding that I use, Marker.
My relationship with the Marker company has been excellent. Their bindings are designed and built in Germany, and their materials and craftsmanship are of the highest quality.
Marker also offers the best warranty on their products that I know of. I have a cut-a-way, working display model of the marker toe piece on my sales counter, and I would love to show you how it can out perform other bindings.
Skiing always involves a certain amount of risk - that's what makes it fun. We want our customers to stay healthy and keep having fun. That's why we sell only Marker ski bindings.

What is a "racer's edge"

A racer's edge is a smooth and accurate hand filed edge; it has a more acute edge angle than is normally found on most recreational skis. Edges with side bevel angles of 2 degrees to 3 degrees and base edge bevels of 0 degrees to 1 degree are the most commonly used racing edge profiles. At Ski Sharp, we can custom tune your skis to what ever edge angles that you perfer, but we have found that most of our customers and racers do the best with a 2 degree side edge and a 1 degree base edge bevel. After filing the edge, I polish it four different ways before the ski is waxed. A smooth edge is faster, more durable, and easier to control with less tip crossing and edge catching. Should you have a racer's edge even if you only ski recreationally and at slower speeds? We think you should, especially if you want to be a better skier and have more fun.
